If you're skeptical about herbs really working, a few years ago you wouldn't have been alone.  I like to tell people my personal journey from being a skeptic to wanting to devote the rest of my life to teaching people the important role herbs can play in their health. In 1979, ten months after the birth of my last child, I was enjoying exceptional health, except my breast milk would not dry up.

Not knowing any better, I went to a doctor who put me on hormones. I only took the hormones for 2 weeks, but it struck a major blow to my health.

My menstrual cycle became extremely irregular, I became morbidly obese, my hair fell out, and I had extreme mood swings. For the next 11 1/2 years and 5 doctors, I had been diagnosed with Lupus, Hoshimoto's (thyroid disease), Kidney disease, and Heart disease.  It seemed every time I took medication for a health problem, instead of the problem going away it would aggravate that problem and give me a new problem.

In 1990, my menstrual cycle was so out of control that out of 365 days of that year, I had my menses 350 days.  My total health was so I could hardly leave my home.

One day a friend of mine told me about a lady who sold herbs.  I put off going to her thinking herbs were too simple and too primitive to treat a condition as extensive and chronic as mine.  Finally, out of desperation (and seeing for myself my friend's health improve), I went to see the herbalist. When she looked into my eyes (Iridology) and started telling me about my health, I thought she was nuts.  Since she was so sincere and spent so much time with me and had a large family (9 children), I decided to buy the herbs she suggested to be nice.

When I tried them, they gave me heartburn and an upset stomach, so I quit them.  It wasn't until I signed myself out against my doctor's wishes after I had spent 8 hours in the hospital's emergency room hemorrhaging that I faithfully and consistently took the herbs she had suggested. Herbs saved my life that night by stopping the hemorrhaging.

Since then, I am regaining my health under no medication at all.  My kidney function is more than adequate. I have not needed nitro under my tongue since 31 May 1994 (something I use to have to do sometimes several times a day.)

I also enjoy the side benefits from herbs.  My bowels function normally.  I no longer suffer from systemic arthritis, depression, anxiety, OCD, mood swings or PMS.  I have more energy and my weight gain and balding has leveled off.  I haven't needed to take the Synthroid (thyroid medicine) the doctors said I would have to be on for life.

I'm still not a picture of perfect health, I may never be, but I believe with all my heart that I am on the right road back to health and that if I had stayed on the medical route it would have killed me. Seeing the amazing things herbs can do made me want to learn all I could about herbs so that I could teach and help others.
I have been the webmaster for since 1995 and since 2003 and have been teaching live, interactive lectures on Natural Health since 2002.

I have 15 certificates in Iridology, I have taken anatomy, nutrition and herbology classes, I have received my Certified Natural Health Professional and I completed my Doctor of Naturopathy in December 1997. Achieving respect by leading Iridologists as a teacher, I enjoy traveling to many different states trying to help other people avoid having to go through what I had to.  You see, if I had just taken an herb that I had in my spice rack called sage (which dries up breast milk), my health would never have gotten so desperate.

Dr. Mary Reed (Gates), Traditional Naturopath, CNHP, MH, ND Overcoming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other health conditions were the cataylst that drove me to get a solid foundation of natural health and nutrition so I could help others.  Click Here To View My Certificates.
